WEEK 02 Independent Study

T H E  P L A N Reimagining Zaha Hadid's Riverside Museum Ground Plan as Bridge Section and Floor Plan In line with my theory of fluid movement, the curved shapes and dynamic form of Zaha Hadid's Riverside Museum immediately caught my interest due to these characteristics of her architecture .  Task : take a ground plan and use it to influence the bridge from top view. Then rotate it 90 degrees to inform the bridge's section as well. Below:  Planning and process drawings transforming ground plan into section pan   Bubble Diagram showing room layout Below : Earlier sketches and rough ideas, trying to implement ideas of flowing architecture to imply fluid movement  I envisioned the main body of the bridge to comprise of a large, curved glass form with contour lines running across the shape to provide visual depth and interest. Below is an image of the Foundation Louis Vuitton by Frank Gehry which also inspir...

EXP1: Developed Model

EXPERIMENT ONE: THE DATUM Assessment 2: Developed Stairs and Architecture Perspectives Perspective 1 - Front Exterior View The gallery area and client 1's studio workspace is shown, the interior visible due to the transparent glass shell, creating the illusion of a delicate structure and thin 'skin'  which encases the two levels. Perspective 2 - Interior Entrance View As the viewer enters on the ground floor they are met with an open gallery space and a view of both stair cases. The stairs that lead up to client 1's studio appears to be precariously hung from the ceiling on thin strands and made almost entirely of glass. Each step ends in a point, sloping elegantly to its vertex. Perspective 3 - Gallery Space Layout Higher vantage point of gallery space, showing material detail of both stair cases and main layout. Trent Jansen's chair is displayed in front of panels/wall partitions and 4 marble stands are centred on the floor wi...
