BRIDGE FINAL SUBMISSION (EXP2)

Theory (5%) Architectural design is distinctly informed by its ability to facilitate fluid movement in a dynamic way, through the flexibility of its physical form; thus, unique connections between people and spaces are formed, by blurring the boundaries between interior and exterior, and  natural and artificial. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Architecture (50%) Immediate focus is drawn towards the white piping that runs across the glass body, defining the curves of the bridge's shape. The overall design is intended to recall the natural environment , the lines inspired by geological rock forms, the ripples and motion of water, aged trees and landscape contours. The structure's transparency creates an open atmosphere and strengthens connections between students through the visibility while also creating a direct contact to the natural environment from inside the building. WEEK 02 Independent Study

T H E  P L A N Reimagining Zaha Hadid's Riverside Museum Ground Plan as Bridge Section and Floor Plan In line with my theory of fluid movement, the curved shapes and dynamic form of Zaha Hadid's Riverside Museum immediately caught my interest due to these characteristics of her architecture .  Task : take a ground plan and use it to influence the bridge from top view. Then rotate it 90 degrees to inform the bridge's section as well. Below:  Planning and process drawings transforming ground plan into section pan   Bubble Diagram showing room layout Below : Earlier sketches and rough ideas, trying to implement ideas of flowing architecture to imply fluid movement  I envisioned the main body of the bridge to comprise of a large, curved glass form with contour lines running across the shape to provide visual depth and interest. Below is an image of the Foundation Louis Vuitton by Frank Gehry which also inspired the aesth
